Helper Junction

Frequently asked questions

Everything employers, helpers and agencies ask about hiring in Singapore through Helper Junction.

About Helper Junction

What is Helper Junction?

Helper Junction is Singapore's marketplace for hiring domestic helpers — direct, or through a licensed agency (Coming Soon). Employers browse, shortlist helpers and post a job with a free account; pay only when they want to unlock contact details. Helpers create profiles and apply free — no hidden fees.

Licensed employment agencies — both Singapore-based and overseas — will join the marketplace soon.

Is Helper Junction an employment agency?

No. Helper Junction is a technology platform that enables employers and helpers to find each other and communicate lawfully. It does not arrange employment as an agency and does not hold or require a MOM employment agency licence for this model.

How is Helper Junction different from a maid agency?

With Helper Junction, you search, contact, interview and choose helpers yourself, and handle the MOM employment process directly using our guides. A traditional agency placement typically costs higher fees but the agency manages the hiring process and paperwork for you.

Helper Junction gives you full control at a much lower cost — and licensed agencies will soon join the same marketplace for those who prefer a managed service.

For employers

How much does it cost to hire a domestic helper through Helper Junction?

Browsing, shortlisting and posting a job is free. When you want to contact helpers, you pay an affordable subscription fees. See pricing.

Beyond the subscription, you pay the normal government costs of employing a helper directly: the MOM work permit application, monthly levy, insurance and security bond.

Is it legal to hire a domestic helper directly in Singapore without an agency?

Yes. Singapore's Ministry of Manpower (MOM) allows employers to hire a migrant domestic worker directly without going through an employment agency. As the employer, you are responsible for the work permit application, medical examination, insurance, security bond and other MOM requirements.

Helper Junction provides step-by-step guides and checklists. Always refer to MOM's official website for the latest requirements.

What does "phone-verified" mean on a helper profile?

Phone-verified means the helper confirmed her real phone number with a one-time password (OTP) at signup, and duplicate numbers are blocked. It confirms the phone number is authentic and the profile belongs to a real, contactable person.

You should still interview helpers, check references and verify employment history yourself before hiring.

How do I contact a helper?

Browse free and shortlist with a free account — no subscription needed. When you're ready to talk, subscribe to unlock contact details. Discuss salary, duties, availability and start date directly, and arrange interviews by phone, WhatsApp or video.

Does Helper Junction help with MOM work permit paperwork?

We provide step-by-step guides, checklists and contract resources covering the full MOM direct-hire process. Helper Junction is a technology platform and does not submit applications on your behalf. Licensed agencies joining soon will offer managed paperwork for employers who prefer that route.

What is the Direct Hire Guarantee?

If a hire made directly through Helper Junction doesn't work out, your next subscription is free. Full terms will be published on the pricing page.

Can I find a transfer helper on Helper Junction?

Yes. Many helpers on the platform are transfer helpers already in Singapore. Profiles show current availability and contract status so you can filter for helpers who can start sooner.

Step-by-step hiring processes

How do I hire a transfer helper who is already in Singapore?

Hiring directly: 1) Find and interview the helper on Helper Junction; agree on salary, duties and start date. 2) If you're a first-time employer, complete MOM's Employer Orientation Programme (EOP). 3) Buy the required medical and personal accident insurance and arrange the security bond. 4) Apply for the new Work Permit online with MOM while the helper is still on her current permit. 5) Once In-Principle Approval (IPA) is issued, coordinate with the current employer to cancel the existing permit. 6) Get the new Work Permit issued and complete card registration.

Transfers are usually the fastest direct-hire route. Always check MOM's official website for the latest requirements.

How do I hire a new helper who is based in her home country?

Hiring directly: 1) Find and interview remotely (video call recommended). 2) Complete EOP if first-time employer. 3) Apply for Work Permit and receive IPA. 4) Helper completes home-country exit requirements — note Philippines and Indonesia may require accredited agencies or government clearance even for direct hires. 5) Arrange flight, insurance and security bond. 6) After arrival: medical exam, Settling-In Programme (first-time helpers), then Work Permit issuance.

For new hires from overseas, an agency is often the more practical route. Always check MOM and the source country's official requirements.

How do I hire an ex-Singapore helper who has returned to her home country?

Similar to a new overseas hire, but she typically does not need to repeat the Settling-In Programme — making this faster than a first-time overseas hire, with proven Singapore experience. Always check MOM's official website for current requirements.
